Stay Hydrated (And Eat Healthy)

Hydration is key to keeping your skin in good condition, but a lot of us tend to forget about it. While it's important to drink water while we're exercising, or when it's hot out, it shouldn't be something you reserve only for those situations. Keep a water bottle with you throughout the day, and when you feel thirsty, take a drink. Additionally, try to limit your intake of other liquids like coffee, soda, alcohol, etc.

The same is true for your food. You are what you eat, after all, and if you eat greasy, fatty, unhealthy foods then that will have a reaction on your skin. It's important to stay away from processed food, to take vitamins, and to make sure you get a balance of fruits and vegetables on your plate if you want to keep your skin healthy.

Stay Away From Hazards

While there's nothing like a little sun on your face, it's important to remember that sunshine has more than warmth in it. Exposure to sunlight can cause serious problems for your skin, from sunburn to cancer. That's why you should always take precautions to put on sunblock, wear protective headgear, long sleeves, etc. Even if you're playing it safe, though, make sure you take regular breaks from the sun to sit in the shade as a way to minimise your exposure.

The sun isn't the only hazard that can affect your skin, though. Dry air, harsh wind, smoke, and other hazards can all have negative effects on your skin. You need to recognise when you're being exposed to a hazard, and do your best to protect yourself from it. Your skin doesn't just get better on its own; it needs some help from you. That means you need to keep an active eye on your skin, and start doing things that will keep it healthy. For example, to scrape off dead skin, consider using an ex foliating wash in the shower a few days a week. Lotion your skin, and find a moisturiser that works for you, and your needs. Trim your nails regularly, and make sure you don't scratch. All of these little steps can add up to big changes.

Communicate With Your Doctor

We get used to going to the doctor as we get older, but we don't always think to talk about our skin. From bruises and rashes, to cancer screenings, it's important to make sure they keep an eye on our outermost layer. Get your doctor's advice for staying on top of your skin, and making sure it doesn't wear out before the rest of you does.
